About
I am an all-around creative person with varied interests in architecture, accessibility, fine art, graphic novels, and illustrations. Art, to me, is not just a pursuit; it’s a tempestuous affair that both inspires and challenges me in the same breath.
My journey into the realm of creativity began at the National School of the Arts, where the world of visual art unfolded before me like a captivating narrative. For over a decade, I immersed myself in the architectural world, infusing my artistic soul with a distinct layer of expression that set my artworks apart.
Armed with brushes laden with acrylics, watercolours, and inks, I embark on a canvas journey that transcends mere strokes. My art is a kaleidoscopic reflection of my cultural identity as a South African Indian, a tapestry woven with the threads of my perspective on the lives of those with disabilities. Each piece is a symphony, echoing the rhythm of my experiences and the places I’ve wandered.
In my exploration, I delve into the roots of my heritage, capturing the essence of my ancestry with an artist’s gaze. The canvas becomes a journal, chronicling my adventures and encounters. Hand signs of South African Sign Language intertwine with the eloquence of the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam, and the chaotic poetry of local minibus taxi signals. In this creole-styled visual language, I share my unique perspectives, a symphony of symbols that resonate with the heartbeat of my narrative.
Through my art, I don’t just create; I communicate. Each stroke, a word; each colour, a melody. It’s a conversation between cultures, a dialogue between experiences, an invitation to traverse the landscapes of my imagination.
