Building typology: Social Housing
Year: 2018
This is a research project focused on the design and accessibility of social housing for people with disabilities in Johannesburg. Despite current legislation, there is a lack of accessibility guidelines for social housing, including minimum requirements for domestic spaces. Therefore, we have developed accessible housing guidelines that surpass the minimum requirements and are based on international best practices. We demonstrate to our clients how a standard housing unit can be improved with accessibility solutions and made wheelchair accessible.
